Pan Fried Sesame tofu

DESCRIPTION

If you say you are not a big fan of tofu is probably because you just haven’t had tofu the right way🤪! It’s the perfect vegetarian meal and it’s a great source of protein.
Have it with some rice it’s delicious!!

Ingredients

  • 500 gr tofu

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • Avocado oil

  • Black sesame

  • Spring onion

For the sauce :

  • 1 tsp sriracha

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp tamari sauce

  • 30ml maple syrup (2tbsp)

  • Juice of half a lime

  • Zest of one lime


Preparation

To get your tofu very crispy you have to drain it well! You have to pull all the liquid out of your tofu


Step 1 

  • place the entire blocks of tofu on a grid and place them onto a plate. Place another plate on top of the tofu then put a heavy item on top. Leave it for 30-40 minutes. It will squeeze out all the liquid.

Step 2

  • In the meantime whisk together all the ingredients of the sauce: the lime zest, lime juice, sesame oil, tamari sauce, sriracha, maple syrup and the ginger.

Step 3

  • Once the tofu has drain, cut it into cubes and place them into a large bowl. Sprinkle the cornstarch and toss with your hands to ensure all the pieces are covered.

Step 4 

  • In a pan add the avocado oil and put it in medium high heat.

  • Once oil is heated up add the tofu and let brown on all the sides.

Step 5 

  • Once the tofu has crisped up on all the sides, add the sauce into the tofu and let it thicken a little bit. Sprinkle some black sesame and spring onions. Mix again and enjoy !!!
